Google PageRank Updates Taking Place Now

About four times a year Google does an update of the backlinks and PageRank for all websites on the internet. As you can imagine this is no easy task and quite often it is kicked off on a long weekend. Apparently Google just did get started in an update this weekend and I have an article that will allow you to see how your site is doing in the changes.

Before you visit the link I should let you know what the two terms mean. A backlink is another site linking to your site from it’s webpage or weblog, and a PageRank is a value from 1-10 that Google gives you based on the value of your site.
To see Page rank you need the Google Toolbar and if you are not using the Google Toolbar take a look anyway, it just sits in your browser and gives you a search right from your title bar.
There is not a lot known about the formula for PageRank but one of the factors is the number of backlinks that you have and a comparison with other sites within your industry
